Wing New Town Action Group and Wing Parish Council have published a detailed appraisal challenging the evidence used to assess Wing for major development.
Wing New Town Action Group and Wing Parish Council have completed a detailed appraisal of Buckinghamshire Council’s New and Expanded Settlement Study assessment for Wing.
The 114-page report examines the Council’s evidence, assumptions and scoring across landscape, heritage, transport, infrastructure, environment, education, healthcare and deliverability.
Our appraisal identifies serious errors, omissions and inconsistencies in the original assessment. It concludes that development on this scale would be completely disproportionate to Wing and would place unacceptable pressure on roads, services and surrounding villages.
The report also highlights the likely harm to the setting of All Saints Church and Castle Hill, the loss of high-quality agricultural land, existing flood and wastewater constraints, limited public transport and the lack of infrastructure needed to support a development of this size.
Using the Council’s own assessment framework, Buckinghamshire Council scored Wing at 63.48%, while our evidence-based reassessment produced a score of only 45.22%, placing Wing in the Low category.
The appraisal’s conclusion is clear: Wing is not a sustainable location for development on this scale. The full report can be downloaded below.
