Why This Plan Is Wrong

Buckinghamshire's proposal to build Wing New Town, a new community of between 1,600 and 2,400 new houses outside Wing, with no confirmed source of funding for any elements of fundamental infrastructure, is unsustainable.

To build those houses on productive agricultural land, at the foot of a protected ancient monument, overlooked by England's finest Saxon church, in an Area of Attractive Landscape, is unacceptable. More than doubling or tripling the size of Wing will swamp our schools, healthcare and our roads. Wing, already near gridlock, will be paralysed and endangered by the burden of traffic through and within the village.

The proposal as presented is a flawed and inadequate basis for planning. Buckinghamshire Council must reassess the suitability of Wing for development, of any scale, on any site in the parish, as part of its plan preparation, prior to considering its inclusion for growth in the new Local Plan.
